Idling away the time in FNQ but finally, a reunion

In this photo, I am trying to persuade myself that Maxi is taking an interest in bridge.  We had to have the van looked at for a roadworthy and we thought we would combine it with a game of bridge at the Tully Bridge Club - 23 members and generally 4 tables.  As we had nowhere to leave Maxi, with the players permission she was allowed to stay and watch the bridge.  She behaved herself really well and we received compliments on her behaviour.

Then on to Cairns where we needed another look at the van for the roadworthy so we are treating ourselves to a caravan park stay.  Here I am in the swimming pool at last doing my exercises in the water, as I used to do at Next Gen in Canberra.

Denny and Rob Dunsterville, our future travelling companions on this trip, have finally caught up with us here in Cairns.  Our first dinner together has been captured for this blog.  Their dog Bella is in the photo but our Maxi was hiding under the table.

We set off together in tandem tomorrow to travel to Cooktown where on Sunday we hope to take part in the re-enactment of Captain Cook's landing there in the harbour.  We haven't really seen much of Cairns this time, as our stay has been largely taken up with organising the inspection of our motor home for NSW registration, which was looking to prove quite troublesome.  But we overcame all obstacles and we are good to go for another year.  A great relief!

Our two vans together at our first rest stop on the way to Cooktown.  Planning on having a fire tonight.
