This NP is one of the loveliest in WA. We last visited 12 years ago and we did not then have a dog so we were able to camp at both campgrounds in the park. This time, we had Maxi minded by a kind Esperance bridge player we met the previous day. So we were able to spend a good part of the morning and a part of the afternoon at Lucky Bay and at Frenchman's Peak.
Look at the colour of that water and that white white sand. This is Lucky Bay, one of the two camping grounds in the park. It is the whitest sand of any beach, anywhere in the world. And the most azure blue colour of the water.
These days there is a little wagon on the beach selling good quality coffee. There is something magical sitting on that sandy beach sipping a nice latte.
We went on a walking track between Lucky Bay and Thistle Cove. It is a 2.5km walk along the paths and rock faces with lovely views along the way. The rocks are quite spectacular and we had one last chance to find yet some more wildflowers. It continues to amaze us what range of flowers abound but I guess here it is a new terrain so there are likely to be new varieties of wildflowers. We have been lucky to get exposure to so many. I have more than 800 photos on the computer. I can't wait to arrange them in the photo album I will make of our trip - as I do of all our trips.
A lizard we met on the rocks.
This enormous rock is called the whistling rock at the end of the walk at Thistle Cove. The wind blows through the surface and the rock sounds as if it is whistling.
Another wondrous spot is Hellfire Bay but we drove there.
I paddled a bit in the cold water. I would like to have gone for a dip, likely my last one in WA but I did not fancy getting sand all over me.
This is Frenchman Peak which we both climbed 12 years ago but this time only Andrew ventured up.
The view at the top of the big hole in the granite face through which you can peek and look down at the vista below.
