Town of 1770
This is the view that Captain Cook saw on his second landing in Australia.
The Town of 1770 and Agnes Water are a charming pair of small townships south of Gladstone, Qld. The beach at Agnes Water is claimed to be the most northern surfing beach in Qld, but this has been disputed by a local we consulted. We did a 6km walk called Red Rocks walking track and it took us past numerous small and larger beaches around which on the cliffs are 178 houses which are part of a gated community called Sunrise on 1770. There are well to do people no matter where one goes. These houses were not modest by any means with great ocean views.
