Pemberton and surrounds

Pemberton is know for its tall karri trees.

Here is Winnie dwarfed by these giants.  The karri tree is the 4th tallest tree in the world.

Big Brook Dam is on the outskirts of Pemberton.  We camped near here for one night and had a nice social time around the campfire.

The beach provides a wonderful opportunity for visitors to swim and picnic here and we imagine in the heat of summer (if such thing happens in the southwest) it would be a lovely place to escape from the sun's rays.

We went on the 75 minute Forest Encounters by Tram which takes people into the Gloucester National Park.

The Cascades waterfalls and the Lefroy Brook's rocky rapids where we stopped for 25 minutes.

It is as well we went for the tram drive into the NP as when we tried to go and see the Giant Gloucester Tree also in the park, we were stopped by a NP person collecting tickets as we had Maxi in the car.  We had been to see the tree in the past and then Andrew, of course, did the obligatory climb to go up to the lookout.  He was prevented from repeating the exercise yet again this time.

Can't resist including another photo of the lovely tall willowy wildflowers that grow like weeds all along the roadside.
