Quick trip to the Ferguson Valley

We did a half day trip to the picturesque agricultural hinterland approximately 20 kms from Bunbury.  There are lovely views of rolling green dairy country.  There are numerous small-holding wineries but they seem to be open mostly at the weekend.

A photo of the wall of the Wellington Dam.  The walls have been washed in order that a mural, the largest mural on a dam wall anywhere in the world, is to be painted on it and it is expected to be ready by Christmas.  The water is now too saline to be used as drinking water, which was its original function.  The rise in salinity is due to the deforestation around the area.

The granite quarry below the dam complete with picnic tables and barbecues.

A major tourist attraction in the valley is Gnomesville.  What started in the late 1990s as someone's folly has become a major tourist attraction and the Shire of Danderup now maintains the site.
