Carnarvon and Point Quobba at the Blowholes

We reached Carnarvon and had a little look around and left my watch at the chemist for a new battery which needed to be ordered.

The twin murals at the Visitor's Centre.  Camels on the left and the railway on the right.

A panorama or the larger mural in the middle of the town depicting the town's history.

We then drove out to the Quobba Blowholes, 75 kms north of town, for a few nights stay and we plan to come back to Carnarvon for a further look.  We are hoping that the wonderful Saturday growers markets will be on.  We went there with Joke 10 years ago and bought some of the tastiest free range eggs there.  From a brochure I gather there may be packets of goat curry on sale too.  Here's hoping.

The natural phenomenon of the blowholes is at times a spectacular sight to see.  The powerful ocean swells force the water through sea caves and up out of narrow holes in the rocks and jets of water erupt into the air, sometimes at the height of 20 metres.

Just 1 km south of the blowholes is Point Quobba where campers are allowed.

Down at the beach area there is the calm coral filled lagoon with a white sandy beach.  The shallow water has small fish and shells and is ideal for snorkeling.  This is a very popular camping area with people coming to stay for weeks on end.  We are staying three nights.
