Continuing on towards Kununurra

The many faces of the Fitzroy River.

Two different kinds of boab trees with their distinctive swollen base of the trunk.  These trees seem to grow only in the Kimberley region and in the Northern Territory.

This rock face resembled a castle.

This was yet another very lovely camp spot at The Lake, Ellendale which is a private property with a gate.  No facilities, just a lovely outlook.

And quite a number of cows and some bulls.

Ngumban Cliff Lookout was another rest area on top of the cliffs overlooking the valley.  We had intended to stay the night but we were advised that Mary Pool 100 kms further on was particularly nice so we took the advice.

We were not sorry we had listened to the advice as Mary Pool turned out to be one of the very nicest rest areas we have yet stayed at.  Plenty of shaded, grassy areas.

Whilst we absolutely love the Kimberleys, the constant miasma of red coloured, fine dust does get a little wearing.  Stepping out on to green grass is such a pleasure.  As was the shade from the lovely trees.  This camping area is certainly up with the best of them, anywhere.

China Wall just 6 km outside Halls Creek.  It is a white natural quartz stone formation that resembles a miniature of the Great Wall of China.
